In class today, we tried to print out the axles for our steering with the Resin printer upstairs; however, due to a lack of resources, we plan on coming in over the weekend to complete this print. Our problem was that in order to use the resin printer, we needed to not only have a resin solution but also a washing/cleaning solution, which we didn’t have. We opted to buy water-soluble resin instead so we can just clean with water.


Also, having finished our first Voltera circuit board print, we started putting in the metal rivets. We ran into some problems with the size of the rivets and the size of the holes as some of the holes were too big for the smaller rivets but too small for the bigger rivets. In an effort to fix this, we re-drilled those problematic holes with the Voltera to make them bigger for the bigger rivets. Once our rivets are all set in, we then plan on soldering that circuit board. Given our group’s efficiency with soldering, we are optimistic to have that circuit board soldered by next class. Additionally, we started printing out our next circuit board that would function as the controller for our car with a joystick. We started the process of printing on the Voltera for that board in class and we plan on finishing that print this weekend. 

We also made two different, simpler versions of the KiCAD as we drew out a new circuit with the help of Ms. Selan. Accordingly, we re-coded and this time we used Arduino IDE.

Sounds like a productive but slightly frustrating day with the printers! Switching to water-soluble resin seems like a smart move. For the circuit board rivets, did redrilling the holes with the Voltera work well as a fix?

It seems that at this point you guys are limited by the time constraints put on you by the printers, maybe you could divide and conquer?

How can you make sure your code for Arduino works? Would you have the time to check?
